PROJECT SCHEDULE

The South Shore Line (SSL) will hold public meetings in the Fall of 2016 to familiarize the public with the project and get input on the Purpose and Need and alternatives that are being considered, as well as any other comments that are relevant to the study.

The Environmental Assessment is expected to be completed in mid-summer 2017, followed by a public hearing and 30-day comment period to receive public comments. After consideration of public comments, the SSL anticipates that the FTA will issue a Finding of No Significant Impact.

The SSL can then ask the FTA to enter the design and engineering phase of the project. The SSL intends to finish the design in 2018, begin construction in 2019, and begin operations by 2020.
